The Hecker Volunteer Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the following positions.


Probationary Firefighter/First Responder

In order to be considered for this position you must be 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED and reside within the Hecker Fire Protection District. As a probationary firefighter/first responder you will join the department for a probationary period. During that time you learn all the operational aspects of the Hecker Fire Department and maintain minimum training requirements, respond to both fire and EMS calls, enroll in an Illinois State Fire Marshall Basic Firefighter Class and become certified, complete an Emergency Medical First Responder Course and become licensed with the Illinois Department of Public Health, and obtain an Illinois Class B Non-CDL Driver’s License. After completing all of the above listed requirements you would then be eligible for promotion to the rank of Firefighter/First Responder.


Probationary First Responder

In order to be considered for this position you must be 18 years of age, possess a high school diploma or GED, reside within the Hecker Fire Protection District and hold an IDPH license(FR-D, EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-P or PHRN) As a probationary first responder you will join the department for a probationary period of 6 months. During that time you learn all the operational aspects of the Hecker Fire Department, maintain minimum training requirements, and respond to calls. After completing all of the above listed requirements you would then be eligible for promotion to the rank of First Responder.


We are currently most in need of candidates that have some availability from Monday-Friday 6AM-4PM.
